Junior and Accessory Dwelling Units
In September 2016, the State of California passed three bills regarding Accessory Dwelling Units and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (also referred to as second units and junior second units). In response, Staff has drafted amendments to the Town’s existing Second Unit Ordinance (Chapter 18.31 of the Corte Madera Municipal Code) that incorporate changes required to conform to State law.

Accessory Dwelling Unit Permit Submittal Requirement Checklist
“Accessory Dwelling Unit” means an attached or a detached residential dwelling unit which provides complete independent living facilities for one or more persons. It shall include permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation on the same parcel as the single-family dwelling is situated.
Application Requirements
Project plan sets shall have a uniform sheet size, with each sheet no larger than 24” x 36”. Four (4) copies of all plans are required for items reviewed by Zoning Administrator.
