Exterior Wall Finishes

Wood siding can be purchase unfinished or pre-primed. For all siding that is to be painted, pre-primed is strongly recommended. If the finish is to be stained, an unfinished product will be required.

Wood siding is available in a variety of styles, including:

• Shiplap
• Tongue and Groove
• Shingles
• Grooved Plywood panels.

Species, quality and sizes vary widely and many are suitable for both vertical application and horizontal application.  It is recommended that you visit a local lumber yard to view the available styles and sizes.  Wood siding can be purchase unfinished or pre-primed.  For all siding that is to be painted, pre-primed is strongly recommended.  If the finish is to be stained, an unfinished product will be required.

SmartSide 48 in. x 96 in. Strand Panel Siding comes ready to install easily with no special tools needed. The panel has a tan, wood-textured surface that is primed and ready to paint, making it perfect for outdoor sheds. It is manufactured with an environmentally friendly process that is SFI certified.

HardiePanel is siding made of fiber cement which looks is textured to look like vertical wood siding, but will not rot.  All HardiePanel siding comes in a variety of looks and textures, all of which are Engineered for Climate. HardieBoard siding comes with a 30-year no prorated, transferable, limited warranty.

HardieBoard is available in a number of different finishes, depending on your location.  Most typically, “Select Cedarmill” and “Smooth” will be available from local suppliers.  The product is 5/16″ thick, and is available in 4ft x 8ft, 4ft x 9ft and 4ft x 10ft panels.
